Turns out IE 5.5 Beta is the devil. None of it works. The address bar doesn’t work. The stop button doesn’t work. Forms don’t usually work. ActiveX.. forget about it. That means you can’t upgrade to the latest beta release of IE, which means you’re stuck. If you manage to restore your previous installation, you wind up in IE 4.0, as I have now. Grumble grumble…. Time for me to install 200 megs of updates. Again.
And don’t get me started about the new crap MS decided to add to Office 2k. ‘Features,’ they call them.
