Fun with numbers!

While waiting in line for my Back Yard Burger the other day, I spoke with an old man about the election. He brought it up somehow – I’m usually afraid of talking to new people. I shouldn’t have been surprised at who he was voting for. He was voting for Bush. He was eight thousand years old and admitted he doesn’t pay attention to the news or the issues. His sole reason for voting for Bush was that he felt George was more attractive and Kerry’s nose was too big. After fighting down the urge to vomit all over the guy, I told him I was looking forward to seeing him at the polls this coming Wednesday.

I ache, both physically and mentally. I spent hours today gathering and moving roughly thirty garbage cans of yard debris while thinking about our president. Then I came back inside, and eventually spent 3 hours reading stuff about our president. (Right before Frances came and took away the electricity, I pirated Fahrenheit 9/11 and Roger & Me, then watched them back-to-back.) Basically any quiet time this weekend was spent with me thinking about politics, religion, fear, economics, hate, greed, treason, charity, ignorance, and spin. It’d be nice if I woke up tomorrow and didn’t care so much about politics, and a bit more about video games. I’m glad I don’t make a living designing computer systems that kill people, but I’m starting to understand my job doesn’t exactly make the world a better place.
